Chester Mountaineering Club - Hut
Pen Ceunant Uchaf, (PCU).

We have our own hut in Wales for members to stay overnight for a modest fee. The hut was purchased by members forty years ago so that the club could have a base in Snowdonia. Over the years we have modenised and improved the facility. Now we believe that it compares favourably to most in the area.
A view of the hut is below. It is in the centre of the photo.

The Hut can be found on the torist path up Snowdon about 300m above Llanberis, Caenarfon. There is ample parking outside the hut From the hut are wonderful views accross the valley to Moel Eileo and also across the pass to Elidir Fawr.

The accomodation consists of a common room, dining room, kitchen, Male and Female toilets and washing facilities, a shower and a drying room.
The common room is heated by a coal fire, while the rest of the the downstairs is heater by storage heaters. The dining room has tables and chairs. This photo was taken at a recent new members meet

The Kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, cooking hobs and microwave cookers. There are also fridges, kettles and tosters. All cutlery, crockery and cooking pot and utensils are present There is also a sink with a hot water heater

Upstairs is a split dormitory that can accommodate 18 guests on Alpine style communal mattresses. We also have a smaller members dormitory that sleeps 4-6 people. (sleeping bags are required)

Off the kitchen is the drying doom, toilets and shower room.. There are two male toilest and wash basins with hot water and a female toilet with basins with hot water. The shower also runs on hot water.
