Got out at last and did my first winter route HOORAY!
I took a wander into Glen Clova and up to Corie Fee on Sunday 24th Jan. There was loads of the white stuff a bit wet and heavy. The Classic Look C Gully was in condition (3/4) As for me I soloed A Gully a Grade 1. made big buckets steps all the way. Could have done it without crampons and one ax or pole except for last 50 or 60 fet where it steepened and hardened up.
Met a pair in the carpark. they were in the other venue, Winter Corrie . They and another pair had to abseil off ,both had an epic and were off route from the sounds of it. Got lost in the cloud and went up wrong line.
Hoping to get out again on Sunday coming.

Hello again, the snow is still here and skiing on Glen Shee is reported to be very good( Wed 10th Feb).
I got out the last two Sundays. Did D Gully another grade 1 in Glen Clova on one trip just a steady plod on good snow (Jan 31st) On last Sunday (Feb 7th) the PMC lot had a day meet there so I was back for a third visit. Climbed B Gully it is given grade 2 but has a steep ice pitch near the top which is more like a 3. We then descended E Gully another grade 1. A good day. Look C had several parties on it ,might not be there for much longer.

Angie and I are hoping to go to Dolomites in July for a spot of Via Ferratas and climbing. with PMC. anyone know a good place to stay?

Hello again from way up north.
I have been out a few more times since last posting, Went up B Gully Chimney a great grade 3 in Corrie Fee. Read about it in the newsletter this month I hope. And then went out to do Diagonal Route another grade 3 in Winter Corrie which is close to Corrie Fee. An account of that is Part 2 and should be in the next news letter.
Tried going to Lochnagar but it was after the thaw and all the stuff was avalanching wet ans porridgy. so just walked about a bit. Typicaly then came the cold snap and the big dump of snow. But since then it has been wet at low levels and I have not been out.
However Angie and I are off to Skye on Sat 10th April for 4 days hoping to do a few hills.
Oh yes house in Abernethy, near Perth should be finished in a month or so and we will be taking bookings for visitors!!
Anyone want to buy a nice 2 bed flat in Blairgowrie, very handy for Glen Shee??????
