If you are interested in Rock Climbing, Mountaineering or Fell Walking, you will find a friendly welcome from like-minded people in the Chester Mountaineering Club. New members are always welcome.

We have around 200 members, with an active core based in the Chester area.  We run a varied programme of activities including regular outdoor meets both in the UK and abroad, walking meets, midweek evening climbing at local crags and climbing walls (depending on the time of year!) and social events.

Related mountain adventures including Ski touring and mountain biking also make it onto the schedule occasionally. The Club has a wide range of members in terms of mountain interests, ages, and climbing standards.

For technical activities such as rock climbing or winter mountaineering, the club does not provide instruction for complete beginners, but once able to operate safely at a basic level, newcomers to the sport will find a wealth of experience within the Club to learn from.

We have our own hut in Llanberis, beautifully situated on the road up towards the Snowdon path, plus access to three more in the Lake District owned by kindred clubs.

If you would like to join us for a meet, or just want to learn a bit more about the Club, contact Membership Secretary Barbara Murray at barbaram@chestermc.org

Chester Mountaineering Club is also on Facebook where you can find the latest news on upcoming events
